Kiedyśteraz is a portmanteau polish word—a mutation born from an inability to sever the past or future (Kiedyś) from that which unfolds in the present: the elusive Now (Teraz). This singular term encapsulates the combined energy of two individuals: Natalia Wiśniewska and Dominik Pokornowski. Both are children of systemic, economic, and technological transformation, as well as the advent of the digital age. On a personal level, their connection traces back to the “Neverland” of the 1990s techno scene in Toruń.

Natalia Wiśniewska (Antalia) holds a PhD in Fine Arts, operating primarily within the realms of drawing and sculpture. In recent years—encouraged by Dominik—she has been transgressing disciplinary boundaries, experimenting with music, poetry, and vocal practice. Dominik P. is a philosophy graduate who was already investigating the impact of new media on interactive mutations in contemporary art at the turn of technological eras. For the past seven years, he has been experimenting with analog and digital sound synthesis, working with a setup that includes the Polyend Synth, Waldorf Protein, Sequential Take 5, Arturia Drumbrute Impact, and Arturia Minibrute 2. His practice is further complemented by his DJing activity under the moniker demute.

As a collective, Kiedyśteraz subjects to tender observation the intricate “operating systems” that human beings employ to navigate an overwhelming reality: lived and inherited traumas, depressive states, masks constructed for the sake of family dynamics, and the experience of illness. Their practice is dominated by a deliberate, lyrical pathopathos and a distinct, ritualistic narrative.
